COULD IT BE ADHD?
Difficulty sustaining attention, following through with tasks or instructions, or appearing to miss information.
Difficulty managing belongings, remembering instructions, following routines or keeping track of what needs to happen next.
A need to move or fidget, difficulty remaining still when expected, or an internal sense of restlessness.
Interrupting, acting or speaking quickly, or finding it difficult to wait and think before responding.
Becoming frustrated or overwhelmed quickly, or experiencing emotional reactions that can be difficult to regulate.
Difficulties that may affect learning, home life, friendships, activities or other areas of everyday functioning.
Experiencing some of these difficulties does not mean a child or young person has ADHD. A diagnostic assessment considers the pattern of symptoms over time, their impact on everyday functioning, developmental history, information from relevant settings and whether another explanation may better account for the difficulties experienced.
BUILDING THE WHOLE PICTURE
A comprehensive ADHD assessment looks beyond what happens in one place or at one point in time. We explore the child or young person's development, their experiences at home and in education, and relevant supporting information to understand the pattern of difficulties and how these affect everyday functioning.
Exploring developmental history and how difficulties have presented over time.
Understanding what parents or carers observe and how difficulties affect everyday life at home.
Considering information about how the child or young person functions in another relevant setting, such as school or college.
Bringing experiences and supporting information together to consider whether the pattern is consistent with ADHD and whether another explanation may better account for the difficulties.
YOUR ASSESSMENT JOURNEY
From the first clinical conversation through to the assessment outcome, each stage helps build a comprehensive understanding of your child or young person.
A first appointment to discuss your concerns, your child or young person’s experiences and whether progressing to a full ADHD assessment may be appropriate.
Relevant questionnaires, developmental information and supporting evidence are gathered from parents/carers and, where appropriate, education or other relevant settings.
A comprehensive remote clinical assessment exploring ADHD symptoms, developmental history and how difficulties affect everyday functioning.
The assessment and supporting evidence are considered together against recognised diagnostic criteria, including whether another explanation needs to be considered.
The assessment outcome is explained and documented in a comprehensive clinical report.
If you progress to a full ADHD assessment, your £49 Clinical Triage fee is deducted from the £549.99 assessment fee.
